In April, five members from TCWR headed off to Foz do Iguassu, Brazil for the 2015 Junior/U23 World Championships. Team USA consisted of 13 total members with two coaches Silvan Poberaj and Eric “Butter” Hurd. Each member trained hard for six days on the championship course and competed strongly. The competition was held from 4/22/15-4/26/15. On day one of competition, in the C1 U23 category, Tyler Hinton finished 8th in the qualifying runs putting him in the semifinals. In the K1 U23 category Spencer Huff finished 45th place putting him just out of the semifinals. Bryant Lord, in the junior C1 category, finished 33rd place and Ben Peeples finished 40th. On day two of competition, K1W junior Teagan JohnsonMoore finished in 39th place. Tyler Hinton continued to compete well and placed second in the semifinals. On the day of finals, Tyler finished 9th overall with a time of 104.02.
We are very proud of how the members of Team Colorado represented our country. Our team continues to train hard and we all look forward to a fun and competitive paddling season in 2015.
